.A Few Words.
I can't believe we're over halfway through February! I'm telling you, time goes faster and faster the older you get.
And it's not fun either.
Last time I wrote I was at the beginning of a cold. And boy, did that cold kick my behind!
I can't remember having a cold that bad!
I tried not to take too many days off work though. I had testing I needed to finish. I did take a few half days though.
Speaking of work, it's going pretty good. My class this year is a little immature. Yes, I know, they're just first graders. But there are differences in maturity over the years. Plus I think a lot of it has to do with the chemistry of the kids. I have a few handfuls this year and when you put them together, it can be tough. But they are my babies. I've been trying to do some reading testing since we got back in mid-January. With my mother-in-law passing, the weather, and being sick, it took FOREVER to finish!
The tests are time-consuming and I have to do them one at a time. So I've not been actually teaching a lot, which is what I love to do, so it's been tough. I've finally gotten it completed though! So I'm excited about this week. I'll be able to meet with my reading groups again!
I had about a week of feeling normal. Then a sinus thing struck. I feel OK, just coughing stuff up and then coughing through the day.
Valentine's Day was nice. Of course my students showered me with gifts.
Hubby gave me a cute little lion, a bag of mini Snickers, and a pair of pink and red socks.
My dad gave me 2 roses.
Friday, hubby took me out to Mellow Mushroom (
) and then we went to Paint Your Pot. It had been forever since I'd been there and I'd forgotten how soothing it is. He picked a Yoda figure to paint and I picked a piggy bank to paint for my mom for her birthday. We didn't finish so we'll probably go back this week and let our daughter come and work on a piece too.
Yesterday was a very lazy day for me.
We got snow again.
I've noticed that we tend to get our snow closer to/in Feb. I'm just glad it didn't interfere with school.
Today I went to church, then took my daughter to dance. She made Company this year at her dance studio. It's like the "elite" of the studio. They do a lot more dances and it's more rigorous. She was thrilled and I'm so proud of her because she's been keeping her grades up even with all the dancing. She has dance at least 3 days a week. Right now she has it some on the weekends because they're preparing for a jazz show in March. I stopped at the grocery store on the way back to my mom's. We had Mom's birthday dinner today. We had a great time! Lots of laughing!
My stomach hurt when I left. I came home and napped and then started working on some things for school. (I really should be doing that more instead of being on here.
)
The other week we went to tour a high school my daughter wants to attend. It's chosen by lottery, so hopefully she'll get in.
We'll find out at the beginning of March. It's a school that focuses on the arts a lot. I think it would be a perfect fit for her. She was so excited!
I loved it too and it made me want to go back to high school.
Well time to get some more work done and then off to bed. I hope everyone has a lovely week.
